Corporate Retreats
The cabins and cottages at Walker Creek Retreat are the perfect place to lodge a company gathering with the capability to sleep up to 25 persons in separate beds throughout five cabins. Many of the corporate groups that stay with us love to fish, and our award winning guide services lead by veteran guide and co-owner of Walker Creek Retreat, Britt Stoudenmire, are always a top choice.
"I have been a repeat customer for 12+ years now and have no plans to ever stop as you both, and now the little one, are an extended part of our family and the Essroc family. A customer turned me on to your services 12 years back and the accommodations and fishing are very hard to beat and I fish all over the world...I’m in Sales and this has become a “go to” for me, and frankly many of my salespeople, to take customers, enjoy, relax and take in the wonderful settings at the cabins. The cabins are wonderfully appointed which I’m sure are Leigh’s “touches” and well received if bringing your wife, etc. The settings and deck spaces allow for great exchanges with friends and customers and are a great way to bond and build relationships. Fishing from, and even better “in”, the creek is a must for those more willing to “dive in” and are a “cool” additional aspect of the cabins to take advantage of and get a few practice casts in before floating with Britt. The floats with Britt and his guides I consider a must, and the New River fishery and Britt’s knowledge of the New can lead to some epic days. River fishing and doing a float, if you've never done before, is a must-do and the scenery is awesome...Britt and Leigh continually update and improve their offerings every year and as a business guy I have the deepest respect for them and watching their operation grow and be enhanced every year. I will always remain a loyal customer of theirs as they have my highest recommendation." Carl A., VP of Sales, Essroc Cement
Family & Group Retreats
The cabins at Walker Creek Retreat are designed to hold a family, church, or other large group gathering with the capability to lodge up to 40 guests throughout 5 cabins. Located within a 5-hour radius of our 6 surrounding states: OH, PA, MD, NC, TN, and KY, makes us a central meeting location for families and groups traveling in different directions to spend time together. One of the features our guests' like the most about staying with us is that they can be together but also have a bit of separation by taking advantage of our multiple cabins.
"My family and I have stayed at Walker Creek Retreat for over a decade! We have come alone, for quiet retreat and relaxation, and with friends when we wanted to share our slice of heaven! As business owners, we have also taken clients for fishing and college football in the fall. Everyone who has ever visited with us loves it as much as we do! We return time and again, and always leave rested, refreshed and feeling a closer connection to nature. Sharing the beauty of the area with my children is such a treat!" Jenn W., Easley, SC
Fall Virginia Tech Football Lodging
Our retreat has always been a big hit with Virginia Tech alumni, fans, and opponents. Located just 40 minutes west of Blacksburg, the drive to and from the game from our retreat is super-easy and in the opposite direction of the majority of Game Day traffic. Our cabins are very affordable for large groups looking for a unique lodging option outside of the lines and crowds of campus. After the game, you can continue the tailgate by grilling steaks or roasting s'mores by the creek or our area has a multitude of restaurant options that are extremely delicious. Others even get in a fishing trip or canoe float while here for Game day. Whatever your choice, Walker Creek Retreat is a great place to base for football weekends.
"The cabins are clean and comfortable for the 9 of us to enjoy sitting inside (if we catch a rainy weekend) or sitting along the river with the fire pit blazing at our feet. The kitchen and dining facilities are more than accommodating for all of us. The lovely setting of fall foliage is breath taking. The river is so clean we can see the fish swimming past. It is the one time a year we are able to come together and reconnect with dear friends. All of this is less than 30 minutes from Lane Stadium where we always enjoy a collage football game and great tailgating. On a personal note, Leigh & Britt have been extremely accommodating more than once." Jo Anne W., VA
Virginia Tech/Radford University Families
Our cabin retreat is located just 35 minutes from Blacksburg and Radford, away from all the hustle and bustle of the busy crowds you find on campus. Spring and Fall Graduation, Freshman Orientation, and Parents' Weekends are huge hits at Walker Creek Retreat. Spring graduations can book-up over a year in advance, so make sure to get your reservations early. Over the years, our cabins have become a home-away-from-home for some students and their families. Features such as our cabins' full-kitchens make preparing your Hokie or Highlander a home-cooked meal quite the blessing when they can't tear away from the books to make a trip home for a holiday. We also host parents of Hokie Summer Camps when mom and dad make a vacation out of the time between dropping off and picking up their campers. What ever it is that makes you a part of the campus life at VT or RU, find respite at the cabins at Walker Creek Retreat.
"Over the past few years that our son has attended Virginia Tech, we have had the great pleasure of staying in a couple of different cabins (3 or 4 times) at Walker Creek Retreat. The location is about 30 minutes away from Blacksburg, along a quiet, lovely creek – this is a perfect place for friends and family to recharge and enjoy the tranquility of mountain life...The cabins are very comfortable with all of the amenities needed – extremely clean, bathrooms are updated, kitchens have all of the appliances/dishes needed, lots of bedding – a perfect place to spend a few days! Although there a couple of cabins relatively near each other, everyone has always been quite and respectful of the other renters. There is plenty of space around each cabin to grill or have a campfire if conditions permit it. Words can’t describe how serene it is to fish (release only) or lounge by Walker Creek – it’s become one of our happy places. Our most recent stay at Creekside Cabin was for our son’s graduation from VT; we had 10 family & friends staying together and were able to both enjoy the activities surrounding graduation in Blacksburg, as well as escape the madness of a bursting college town, and enjoy home cooked meals and each others company in a comfortable, homey setting. We hosted people from Canada, Texas and other parts of Virginia and everyone loved their stay here! Can’t say enough good things about how New River Outdoor Co. (Leigh & Britt) run Walker Creek Retreat. It’s been a pleasure renting from them over the past few years. Walker Creek Retreat is an ideal option for groups during game weekends, graduation, or family visits to the area. We look forward to another stay in the future." Tracy L., Allen, TX
